Abstract: the two LWAs, two beams with two different directions can be realized, which can be combined into a sumbeam when the array is fed in phase or into a difference beam when the array is fed 180° out of phaseMeasurement results show that the sum beam can reach a gain up to 15.9 dBi and scan from -33.4° to 20.8In the scanning range, the direction of the null in the difference beam is consistent with the directionof the sum beam, with the lowest null depth of -40.8 dB.

Frontiers in Energy 2011, Volume 5, Issue 1,   Pages 49-52 doi: 10.1007/s11708-010-0111-0

Abstract: simulations are conducted to study the motion of carbon nanotube-based nanobearings powered by temperature differenceWhen a temperature difference exists between stator nanotubes, the rotor nanotubes acquire a higher temperatureThe thermal driving force increases with the increase in temperature difference between the stators,an increase that is nearly proportional to the temperature difference.

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2012, Volume 7, Issue 3,   Pages 268-278 doi: 10.1007/s11465-012-0331-6

Abstract: This paper deals with the contact stress, power loss, and pitting of spur gear tooth in altered tooth-sumgearing for a tooth-sum of 100 teeth when altered by±4% tooth-sum.Analytical and experimental methods were performed to investigate and compare the altered tooth-sum gearingagainst the standard tooth-sum gearing. The negative alteration in the tooth-sum performed better than the positive alteration in a tooth-sum

Scaling up of cluster beam deposition technology for catalysis application

Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering 2021, Volume 15, Issue 6,   Pages 1360-1379 doi: 10.1007/s11705-021-2101-7

Abstract: Many research works have demonstrated that the combination of atomically precise cluster deposition and theoretical calculations is able to address fundamental aspects of size-effects, cluster-support interactions, and reaction mechanisms of cluster materials. Although the wet chemistry method has been widely used to synthesize nanoparticles, the gas-phase synthesis and size-selected strategy was the only method to prepare supported metal clusters with precise numbers of atoms for a long time. However, the low throughput of the physical synthesis method has severely constrained its wider adoption for catalysis applications. In this review, we introduce the latest progress on three types of cluster source which have the most promising potential for scale-up, including sputtering gas aggregation source, pulsed microplasma cluster source, and matrix assembly cluster source. While the sputtering gas aggregation source is leading ahead with a production rate of ~20 mg·h–1, the pulsed microplasma source has the smallest physical dimensions which makes it possible to compact multiple such devices into a small volume for multiplied production rate. The matrix assembly source has the shortest development history, but already show an impressive deposition rate of ~10 mg·h–1. At the end of the review, the possible routes for further throughput scale-up are envisaged.

The Difference Effect of Environmental Regulation on Two Stages of Technology Innovation in China’s Manufacturing

Bao-long Yuan,Sheng-gang Ren,Xing Hu,Xuan-yu Yang

Frontiers of Engineering Management 2016, Volume 3, Issue 1,   Pages 24-29 doi: 10.15302/J-FEM-2016007

Abstract: This paper divides technological innovation into two stages: technology development and technology transfer. Then the authors use the panel data of 28 manufacturing industries during 2003–2012 to test the econometric regression model for the industry of the sub stages, which is a regulation on technological innovation in the environment. The results show that: (1) environmental regulation has a significant role in promoting China’s manufacturing technology research patent achievements, and technology into new products, and this indicated that “Porter hypothesis” in the manufacturing sector has been verified; (2) R&D and transfer expenditure have a positive impact on technological innovation. Finally, the authors put forward the corresponding policy recommendations for industry of the environmental regulation on the impact of technological innovation in phases.
